But What Really Is Self-Mastery?

Well, what is often understood by Self-mastery can also be referred to as “self-control”, your ability to exercise strong will against your impulses and emotions, instead of been controlled by them, because most people are controlled by them.

Some of the concepts in this write-up might be strange to you, but its OK. Unlike what you have repeatedly been told since birth, like sacrificing yourself for others or putting other first and things like that, might not really hold ground here. Self-mastery requires you to put yourself first and being in charge of your life. If this is the first time you are told to do so, I will highly encourage you to get used to it in your journey of self-mastery. Don’t be afraid to be called selfish or egoistic sometimes because people will do so without any effort on your side; but note that “self-love” is not a bad thing, even though some might make it appear so.

For this, however, you will need to have a vision or a destination of where you want to go. It’s OK even if it might not be very clear in the beginning of your journey; it’s not usually clear for most, but you need to trust yourself so that the power within you can be awaken to lead you. As Carl Jung will put it, “Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart.” Never forget that the real power lies within you; this is very important.

Are you ready to take this responsibility, to take charge of your life instead of waiting for other people to tell you what to do and what your limitations should be? The choice is yours.

“You can have no dominion greater or less than that over yourself… He who cannot establish dominion over himself will have no dominion over others.” -Leonardo da Vinci.

What You Will Benefit In This Reading class

When you master yourself, you become lighter and almost like a flying bird, because now you leave behind all the unnecessary burdens: the insecurity, the envies, the barriers that have been created for you by other people and the systems. Through this reading exercise, you will learn to do away with these problems and embrace your inner potentials, and take your life the way it really is; a simple vehicle to carry you through your earthly adventure. In addition, you will learn to:

Stop being afraid of showing your real face: All around us are people who wear all sorts of masks and constantly trying to get approval from outside of themselves. They do this, ignoring their own thoughts, their own feelings, and their own needs. I’m not saying you should not ask other people’s opinions, but be the judge, be the one to take the final decision and don’t be swayed by every little suggestion and criticism from the people.

Sense of connection and oneness with the universe: In the real sense of the word, self-mastery transforms you, as if transported to a different dimension. Having mastered yourself, you begin to enjoy your inner peace and tranquility, because now you are able to set the balance in accordance with who you truly are, in relation to the entire universe. You will only be able to do this when you know yourself and your power within. Remember the words of Socrates, the Greek philosopher, “Man know thyself” and try to imagine why such words has remain timeless. Take advantage of the infinite knowledge around you. It’s yours to enjoy.

Self-mastery reveals your true strength: Do you need power, then start by mastering yourself? As Lao Tzu, the ancient Chinese philosopher and writer will write, “Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom. Mastering others is strength, but mastering yourself is true power.”

The power of self-control now in your hands: Chose your words correctly because your words have power in them. What is essential about self-mastery is that it not only grows you into a position where you can both tap into your inner power and the universal power, but it also teaches you how to control yourself. All these and more you can gain by reading about the men of wisdom here represented in three important books.

Self-Mastery Through Conscious Autosuggestion by Emile Coué

You might think that Suggestion or Autosuggestion is a new topic, but that is not exactly correct. Yes, over the years, it has been wrongly studied and understood in the same way, but it’s actually as old as the human existence itself; it’s that power we inherit at birth, which, depending on a variety of circumstances produces the best or worst results in us. Self-Mastery Through Conscious
