Authors like Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Derek Walcott, and Edwidge Danticat show us that wiping away historical memory inflicts a heavy toll of intergenerational trauma, alienation, and a profound loss of rootedness (Gyasi, 2024; Ojuola, 2024).  

Ultimately, whether we are fighting the modern rollback of civil rights data or rebuilding the fragmented histories of colonial displacement, collective memory is our most vital tool of resistance. Preserving Black narratives is the only way to prevent both structural oppression and psychic alienation (Abrams & Osa, 2025; Ojuola, 2024). 

The Digital Debt
