What was The International Conference on Business Models in Agriculture about?
The International Conference on Business Models in Agriculture, which focused on reshaping agribusiness models for the development of prosperous rural communities, concluded successfully.
Held in response to the pressing challenges faced by developing economies like those across Africa, the 2nd International Conference on Business Models in Agriculture (IBMA) provided a crucial platform for open dialogue and the exchange of groundbreaking ideas.
Guided by the principles of open collaboration and disruptive business models, IBMA 2024 was dedicated to fostering essential transformations in the agriculture sectors of these economies.
Bringing together experts and thought leaders from around the world, the conference created an environment conducive to significant advancements in agriculture. The event marked a significant step towards transitioning from the constraints of poverty to the opportunities of prosperity within these communities.

One of the key, messages away from the conference is that “there are a lot of opportunities among African youth and it’s time for those opportunities and the resources from African leaders to be translated into concrete results in African agribusiness”.
Dr. Ikechi Agbugba, chair of the scientific committee (IBMA 2023-2024) whom we interviewed a while ago, talked of how grateful he was to the Rwanda people for their hospitality and how safe the place was to organize such an event.
Apart from the occasion to meet with different high-profile individuals, he was also very happy to see some of the students he has taught at the university who are now occupying important positions in their professional pursuits. He added, “Africa is the future and we know the position of Africa and the entire world in terms of its potential”.
Dr. Ikechi Agbugba added that next year’s event will be in Kenya and it’s going to be another great occasion.
