There are a lot of ways to overcome writing struggles. Sometimes it can be as simple as taking a break from writing and coming back to it later or brainstorming different ideas. But there are also other alternatives, such as copying text from another person’s written work, or looking for inspiration in music or art.

Sometimes, it can all depend on the individual and what they find most effective for them!

Part of the problem with procrastination is that we often don’t know how to move past it. This can be a big reason why people end up stuck in the cycle of procrastination. They don’t know what to do when they feel stuck and as a result, they get more stuck.

For some students, there are various reasons why they may find it difficult to write, including forgetting how to spell, not understanding the rules of grammar and punctuation, and a lack of prior knowledge.

The best way to overcome this is to stop focusing your attention on this problem. If you feel stuck. It’s never too late to start writing again, but it may take some time before your old skills return. Just be patient and practice- you’ll be back on the right track soon enough!

Suzanne is an Academic Writing Coach. She wrote almost every day in high school, and others loved her stories and poetry. Suzanne did well on her essays but didn’t excel at academic writing. In college, that changed.

Her first English professor told her she could write well and offered to tutor her outside of class. After a few tutoring lessons, Suzanne wrote her first “A” paper.

It transformed her life; she not only excelled in her classes, but she fell in love with academic writing and decided she wanted to teach and help students master those writing skills.

Since then, Suzanne has

  • Earned a B.A. and MA in English and an M.A. in Teaching
