What is WeDiasporan?

WeDiasporan (registered in Verona in 2014 as Evideos) is a non-profit Cultural Research Association dedicated to preserving and amplifying African and Diaspora narratives. We serve as the intellectual engine of our community, passing the torch of heritage to the next generation through the power of digital storytelling.

We are not just a repository of past stories; we are a foundry for the leaders of tomorrow. Our mission is to equip young creators with the tools, technical skills, and cultural confidence to own their heritage and shape the global narrative.

We achieve this through our flagship initiative, Diaspora Memorial, an annual accelerator designed to transform young people into powerful voices for their communities.

Our Story: From Research in Verona, Italy to a Global Movement

Our journey began in Verona, Italy, in 2013 with a deep-dive research project called “The Journey.” For over a decade, we documented the untold stories of African migrants and their descendants, building a vital archive of the Diaspora experience through films, books, and primary field research.

We have evolved from a research-only body into a dynamic engine for youth empowerment, using our 10-year archive as the pedagogical foundation for a new movement of cultural sovereignty.

Our Method: A Focused System for Impact

To ensure measurable transformation, we channel our resources into two strategic “Impact Engines”:

  • The Community & Outreach Engine: We build a supportive ecosystem around our creators. This includes connecting youth with elders for narrative inspiration, matching them with professional mentors, and celebrating their success at our annual Diaspora Memorial Gala.
  • The Skills & Training Engine: We provide high-level, hands-on training to give our youth a competitive edge. Our exclusive “Storyteller’s Toolkit” is an intensive program teaching in-demand skills such as smartphone filmmaking, high-fidelity podcasting, and strategic narrative design.

Our Mission: Empowering Cultural Torchbearers

Our mission is to empower a new generation of leaders by giving them the tools and the platform to own their narrative. We achieve this by:

Technical Mastery

Equipping youth with the digital skills required to compete and lead in today’s creative economy.

Identity & Confidence

Creating a safe, high-status environment for young people to reclaim their voice and identity

Global Visibility

Leveraging the AClasses.org platform to give their work a global stage, ensuring their stories are heard and celebrated worldwide.
