From the point of view of food production and sufficiency in the African market, what can we benefit from an in-depth understanding of Agribusiness and the present-day agricultural practices?

How much food is really produced in different African countries, say in Nigeria for example? What kind of food is been produced and what are the data saying:

  • the marketing analysis,
  • the pricing, and
  • the challenges of the local farmers?

With me to reflect on these questions today is Dr Ikechi Agbugba, an academic, researcher and specialist in Agricultural Economics, with expertise and a keen interest in Agribusiness and Food Security.

In 2014, Dr Ikechi won the Postdoctoral Fellowship Award on a collaborative study with the Agricultural Research Council (ARC) and the Department of Agricultural Economics & Extension, University of Fort Hare.
