It was at this point that the area was named “Cavazuccherina” from “Alvise Zucharin” until it was changed to “Jesolo” in the early 20th century at the request of its residents.

Gradually, the once fertile land of Jesolo depreciated as it became swampy, leading to low produces and the sinking of the lagoon greatly affected the city’s economy.
