Theme: Foundations & Legacy of Lagos 

Morning 

  • Welcome Ceremony: Traditional Yoruba drumming and libation upon arrival at your hotel. 
  • Visit the National Museum of Nigeria – Explore artifacts from pre-colonial kingdoms, traditional religions, and early Lagosian life. 
  • Drive through Lagos Island – View colonial-era architecture and monuments such as Tafawa Balewa Square, the site of Nigeria’s independence handover in 1960. 

Afternoon 

  • Guided tour of Freedom Park – Once a colonial-era prison, now transformed into a cultural and memorial center celebrating resilience and artistic freedom. 
  • Visit the Brazilian Quarters – Home of returnee Afro-Brazilians; walk through streets with names like Campos and Da Silva, and admire unique Afro-Portuguese architecture. 

Evening 

  • Dinner at Terra Kulture – Enjoy a performance of Nigerian dance or spoken word and feast on rich Nigerian dishes such as egusi soup, jollof rice, and suya.

Theme: Ancestral Pathways & the Point of No Return 

Morning Departure (7 AM) 
Drive along the coastline from Lagos to Badagry, the ancient coastal town that was once one of West Africa’s key slave trading outposts. 

Morning Activities 

  • Badagry Heritage Museum Tour – See relics of the slave trade: shackles, chains, trade items, and stories of resistance. 
  • Mobee Slave Relics Museum – View oral history and sacred artifacts kept by the Mobee royal family. 

Afternoon 

  • Walk the Path to the Point of No Return – A guided walk across the lagoon and sandy path where enslaved Africans were led to waiting ships. Pause at the Spirit Attunement Point for silent reflection, drumming, and libations to honor the ancestors. 
  • Baracoon Visit – Enter the original slave holding cells where hundreds were kept in brutal conditions for weeks or months. 

Lunch by the Atlantic Ocean 
Enjoy a traditional meal prepared by local women—featuring okra soup, pounded yam, and fresh seafood. 

Late Afternoon Return to Lagos 
Evening reflection circle at hotel. 

Overnight in Lagos 

Theme: Art, Healing & Contemporary Black Identity 

Morning 

  • Visit the Nike Art Gallery – One of the largest in West Africa. Engage with Yoruba-inspired textiles, beadwork, and carvings. Optional adire (indigo dyeing) or drumming workshop
  • Stop at the Black Heritage Museum, Badagry (if not covered Day 2), or visit Kalakuta Museum (home of Fela Kuti) in Ikeja for a modern take on African resistance. 

Afternoon 

  • Diasporan Naming Ceremony (optional add-on) 
    Receive your Yoruba name in a traditional ceremony led by a Yoruba priest or elder. Includes symbolic gifts and ancestral blessings. 
  • Lunch at a contemporary African-fusion restaurant 
    Reflect over food that blends African roots and global flavors—symbolic of the African Diasporic journey. 

Evening 

  • Closing Ceremony & Farewell Dinner 
    Drumming, spoken word, and candlelight honoring the ancestors. Guests share personal reflections and receive a Certificate of Ancestral Return
