Why You Should Join The Kigali Homecoming

Trip Itinerary

  • Upon arrival in Kigali, you’ll check into Kigali View Stay, a peaceful guesthouse offering a gentle introduction to Rwanda’s soulful rhythm.
  • The day begins with a guided visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a sacred space where memory and resilience echo. This is not just a historical site—it is a powerful mirror into the soul of a people who turned grief into healing and hope.
  • Then, you’ll explore:
  • Campaign Against Genocide Museum – where resistance and unity meet.
  • Inema Art Center – where vibrant African creativity bursts into color and life.
  • Evening Walk through Gisimenti – soak in Kigali’s calm energy and connect with locals.
  • Optional Kigali Night Tour – dance, taste, and feel the heartbeat of Rwanda’s capital.
  • DMTE Perspective: Through these spaces, we reflect on survival, vision, and the beauty of rebuilding. Guests are invited to consider the shared legacy of resilience across the African diaspora.

Start the day immersed in Kigali’s eco-conscious transformation. This is more than a nature outing—it’s a healing journey through places where environment meets heritage.

  • Nyandungu Eco Park – a restored wetland that breathes new life into the city. Walk, meditate, reflect.
  • Umusambi Village – a sanctuary for endangered grey crowned cranes, once held in captivity. Their release mirrors the African spirit: caged, then freed, now soaring.

The evening is free for rest, journaling, or personal exploration.DMTE Note: This day invites you to reconnect with the land as a living part of African identity. How has nature carried the memory of our ancestors? How does it help us renew?

This is your day of physical elevation—both literal and spiritual.

  • Mount Kigali Hike with Fazenda Sengha: Begin the morning walking ancient paths, guided by local experts. Reflect on the symbolism of ascent, struggle, and vision.
  • Mount Jali Hike (Optional Add-On): Continue your journey or rest after your morning hike.

Evening is at your leisure to rest, share stories, or engage with locals.

DMTE Insight: Mountains are more than landscapes—they are ancestral sentinels. As we climb, we access strength, resilience, and clarity passed down through generations.

End your journey with something playful and symbolic: Monkey trekking in Shyorongi. These highly social animals echo the importance of community, cooperation, and movement.

Before departure:

  • Enjoy a bit of local shopping or quiet sightseeing.
  • Group reflection session (optional): led by a local guide/facilitator to close the emotional loop of the journey.

DMTE Note: This final day is about joyful release—leaving Rwanda lighter, clearer, and more connected.
