Morning 

  • Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport: Welcome to Tanzania! You will be warmly greeted by your guide and transferred to Moshi, the bustling town at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro. Here, the striking views of the mountain will instantly captivate you. 
  • Check-In & Rest: After checking into your hotel, take some time to relax and enjoy the natural beauty surrounding you. 

Afternoon 

  • Cultural Introduction to Kilimanjaro: Attend a cultural orientation session that introduces you to the significance of Mount Kilimanjaro, its place in local mythology, and the heritage of the Chagga people who have lived on its slopes for centuries. 
  • Visit to the Chagga Cultural Heritage Centre: Immerse yourself in the rich cultural traditions of the Chagga community, the indigenous people of Kilimanjaro. Explore the Chagga Museum, where you’ll discover artifacts, traditional clothing, and the history of the region, from ancient farming practices to the evolution of the Kilimanjaro region. 

Evening 

  • Traditional Dinner & Performance: Enjoy a traditional Chagga meal at a local restaurant. Dishes such as nyama choma (grilled meat), ugali (cornmeal), and vegetables will give you a true taste of the region. The evening concludes with a cultural performance featuring Chagga dances and storytelling, offering insights into their ancient rituals and beliefs.

  • Departure to Kilimanjaro National Park: After a hearty breakfast, you’ll embark on a guided trip to Kilimanjaro National Park, located at the base of the mountain. Begin your day by exploring the lower slopes of Kilimanjaro, where lush rainforests give way to the dramatic mountain scenery. 
  • Hike to Mandara Hut: Enjoy a light hike through the Kilimanjaro rainforest, a UNESCO-listed ecosystem. As you ascend, discover the rich biodiversity of the area, from colobus monkeys to exotic plant species. Your guide will explain the mountain’s geology, unique vegetation, and history as you make your way to Mandara Hut, located at an elevation of around 2,700 meters (8,858 feet). 
  • Lunch at Mandara Hut: Rest and enjoy a picnic-style lunch while taking in the breathtaking views of Kilimanjaro and the surrounding landscape.

  • Visit to Local Chagga Villages: After your hike, you will visit a traditional Chagga village at the base of Kilimanjaro. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to engage with local villagers, learn about their ancient agricultural practices, and experience the Chagga way of life. Visit traditional Chagga homes—known as kivishos, where families gather for meals and ceremonies. 
  • Cultural Tour of a Coffee Farm: Kilimanjaro is known for its rich coffee-growing tradition. Visit a Chagga coffee farm, where you will witness the entire coffee production process, from picking the beans to roasting them. You’ll have the opportunity to taste freshly brewed coffee while learning about the importance of coffee cultivation in Chagga culture. 

Evening

  • Final Reflections and Departure: After a final meal in Moshi, take some time to reflect on your experience.
