Queen Ameenata on Human Rights and the Sovereign African Identity

|

In a world that often tries to tell your story for you, owning your narrative is the ultimate act of self-mastery. This is the core philosophy of The Obehi Podcast, where we move beyond being consumers of information to becoming architects of our own legacy. In an high-level conversation, Obehi Ewanfoh sat down with HRH Queen Ameenata Dikko Koïta, a woman whose life is a great example of turning institutional wisdom into global advocacy.

Is your story a liability or an asset? Take the 3-Minute Sovereign Audit to see if your legacy is secure.

Queen Ameenata is not just a titleholder; she is a “Developmental Queen” for the Fulbe nation in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. With over 30 years of experience in international relations, she serves as a bridge between ancestral roots and modern professional relevance.

Born in the United States but deeply rooted in her African heritage, she has received numerous global awards for her work in human rights, agriculture, and community empowerment. Her mission is simple yet profound: to ensure that every human being understands their inherent power and the rights they were born with.

The Architecture of Inalienable Rights

Most professionals in the Diaspora move through the world without realizing they carry a “Signature Asset” from birth: their human rights. Queen Ameenata explains that these are not gifts from a government; they are tools for Sovereign Learning.

“We are born with human rights. There’s something that has been given to you from birth. They cannot be taken away. And everybody, no matter how much money they make, no matter how much melanin they have in their skin, everybody has them and they’re equal across the board.”

The challenge, as Queen Ameenata notes, is Narrative Fragmentation. If you do not know you have a right, you cannot defend it. This is why she focuses on the 30 rights outlined in the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

By educating people on these foundations, she helps them move from a state of “Hope Marketing” (hoping for fair treatment) to a “Message Activation” (demanding equity based on international law).

Facing the Reality of Human Trafficking

One of the most difficult parts of Queen Ameenata’s work is her role as a consultant on human trafficking. This is an area where “Institutional Wisdom” is desperately needed to protect the most vulnerable. She points out a harsh reality that many in the Diaspora often overlook: the intersection of race and justice.

The issue of trafficking deeply resonates with us, especially when viewed through the lens of Obehi Ewanfoh’s tireless work. For over a decade, Ewanfoh has documented the African experience in Verona and Northern Italy through his project, “The Journey.”

A prominent voice in the Veneto region, he has spearheaded and participated in numerous dialogues on immigration. One pivotal moment occurred on June 17, 2016, at the University of Verona.

There, Ewanfoh convened scholars and community leaders for We Refugees – Verona 2016,” the most demanding chapter of his long-term project, to confront a singular, difficult question: How did we get here and what is happening behind the hood in immigration and trafficking in persons?

“Black women are trafficked at a lot higher rate than other groups. The reason for that is because if you get caught trafficking a black woman as opposed to trafficking somebody of another race, your punishment tends to be less.”

This is a stark reminder of why Legacy Building requires us to protect our own. Queen Ameenata works behind the scenes, using research and data to help organizations save lives and provide therapy to survivors.

She advocates for a “holistic approach” where the victim and the family receive counseling to heal the psychological damage. This is the “Generational Anchor” in action: healing the trauma of today so it does not sink the generations of tomorrow.

The Pan-African Vision: One People, One Destiny

The conversation eventually shifted to the heart of the AClasses Academy philosophy: Ubuntu. Queen Ameenata is a staunch Pan-Africanist who believes that the divisions between Africans on the continent and those in the Diaspora are artificial barriers to our collective growth.

She identifies “Division” as the primary reason why the Diaspora lacks a dominant media voice. Without unity, we are forced to let others tell our stories, which often results in biased narratives and propaganda.

“Pan-Africanism is the solution. I think we need to connect with like-minded people who understand what the actual problem is, that the problem is division. We need to put what we know into action.”

Her vision for a “Borderless Africa” is not just about geography; it is about economic and spiritual sovereignty. She argues that we must stop looking “without” for solutions and start looking “within.”

The Story to Asset Framework™ in Advocacy:

  • Mission Clarification: Recognizing that “George Floyd is you.” Your brother’s struggle is your struggle.
  • Message Crafting: Moving from “I am Nigerian” or “I am Ghanaian” to “I am African first.” This is the shift from a fragmented identity to a Signature Asset.
  • Message Activation: Doing business with each other, supporting each other, and creating our own media outlets to control our global image.

From Spectator to Architect: The Call to Action

Queen Ameenata’s life demonstrates that you do not need to wait for permission to lead. Whether she is training executives on human rights or helping agricultural projects in Africa, she is consistently building a legacy rooted in service.

She leaves the AClasses audience with a powerful lesson on Self-mastery:

“Get out of those stands and get in the game. Whatever you’re passionate about, link up with some people that are passionate about that also and put in the work.”

The journey from being a consumer to an architect requires you to “Own your story.” It requires you to realize that the system will not save you, but your organized, collective wisdom can.

At AClasses Academy, we have curated over 2,000 articles and 1,000 interviews on The Obehi Podcast to help you find your “Golden Thread.” Like Queen Ameenata, you have a unique history and a professional skill set that can be turned into a scalable asset for your community.
